Save Hundreds or Thousands of Dollars on Dental Care in Guatemala!

Why should you trust me and take my advice?
I moved to Guatemala to be with my husband, and I’ve been lucky to call this country my new home. It’s been a life-changing experience!
Since I now live in Guatemala City, I’ve had the opportunity to visit several dentists and doctors, and in this blog post, I’ve highlighted my number one recommendation for dental care in Guatemala.

Dental Care in Guatemala
For many people, traveling to Guatemala for dental work can be an attractive option because dental care may cost significantly less than in the United States, particularly for major procedures such as crowns, veneers, implants, and full-mouth restoration.
Guatemala has modern dental clinics and dentists who regularly work with international patients, making it possible to combine necessary dental treatment with a trip to the country. The dentist I recommend is Guatemala Dental in Zone 15 in the capital. They speak English, have a very modern office and dental equipment, and they specialize in treating international patients.
For someone who needs extensive work, the potential savings can be substantial enough to make the trip worthwhile—even after accounting for airfare and accommodation. Something to note is that Guatemala Dental offers dental restoration packages including accommodation and transportation.
My experience at Guatemala Dental
Once I moved to Guatemala in 2024, I started searching for a dentist. I found Guatemala Dental in Guatemala City and have stuck with them ever since. The reason I initially went to their office was for a regular dental checkup. I received X-rays, a teeth cleaning, and whitening, and I was overall very impressed with the experience.
At that time, I barely spoke Spanish, and I was happy to have the option to fill out the patient forms in English. I scheduled my appointments in English and communicated with the dentists and some of the staff in English. The equipment they used was very modern, and I was impressed with the quality of the X-rays I received.

In July, 2025, I had dental surgery at their office. Guatemala Dental removed 3 of my wisdom teeth, and I also had a good experience with this. The staff gave me the dental surgery preparation documents in English, and the instructions were very clear.
On the day of the surgery, they gave me anesthesia, which knocked me out during the procedure. I would not recommend getting dental surgery without this, and in Guatemala it’s much more affordable to pay for anesthesia compared to the U.S. It worked well, and I didn’t feel anything during surgery.
They finished the procedure in less than 3 hours, and when I woke up, I had some pain but minimal due to the anesthesia that was wearing off. The dental office gave me a few prescriptions to bring home, such as pain medication, as well as post-care instructions in English. Moreover, the staff checked up on me via WhatsApp to make sure that my recovery was going well and I was able to ask questions during my recovery period.
I had two follow-up appointments and healed well. If you want to watch my YouTube video, I’ve shared more detailed information there as well as video clips from the inside of the office. Click here to watch that video.
I paid $600 USD for the X-rays, surgery to remove 3 teeth, the anesthesia, the medications, and follow-up appointments. Meanwhile, for the same dental care in the United States, I would have paid $1,500-$3000 USD. This is a 60% to 80% savings off the cost, which is why, in my opinion, it’s worth traveling to Guatemala for dental services.

Where to Stay in Guatemala City
If you’re visiting Guatemala for medical and beauty tourism, then I recommend staying in the areas in the city that are near the best dental offices and medical facilities. These are zones 10, 14, 15, and 16, and the hotels listed below are all within a 15-20 minute drive from the Guatemala Dental office.
Zone 10
Zone 10 is where most tourists stay in Guatemala City, and especially in the area called Zona Viva. Tourists love this zone because it is close to the airport. Also, this zone has great access to museums, restaurants, and shopping centers. As a tourist, you’ll find the widest hotel selection here, and most are within walking distance to restaurants.
Most of the hotels in Zone 10 are located approximately 10-20 minutes from the airport. If you’re only staying in Guatemala City for one night before or after your flight, then Zone 10 is a great choice.
Below are the best hotel options for Zone 10:
Budget-friendly:
Midrange:
- Holiday Inn Guatemala
- Courtyard by Marriott
- Hotel San Carlos
- Wyndham Garden
- Clarion Suites
- Hilton Garden Inn
- Meraki Boutique Hotel
Luxury:
Zone 14
I think Zone 14 is a great choice for travelers because it’s quiet, safe, modern, and not far from the airport. However, there are only a few hotel options here.
Adriatika Hotel is one of my favorite accommodation options in all of Guatemala City. I love the pool and sun terrace, especially for the price.
Another option is Hotel Las Americas, which is a 5-star hotel for a much better price compared to the 5-star hotels in Zone 10. It’s not as fancy as the most luxurious hotels in Zone 10 but still a nice option.
Zone 16
The only hotel in Zone 16 is located in the Cayalá neighborhood, and it’s a great choice. It’s the AC Hotel by Marriott, and it is within walking distance of many shops and restaurants. This is a 4-star luxury-style hotel with a nice view from the restaurant.
